Kate Jirelle is an actress and writer based in Sydney.

As the great grand-daughter of an opera singer, Kate Jirelle blames genetics for her love of performance and storytelling. Currently based in Sydney, she is an Australian actress, writer and producer, with British, German and Austrian ancestry who grow up surrounded by natural beauty in the World-Heritage-Listed Blue Mountains region.

Since graduating from The Australian Film and Television Academy, she has undertaken ongoing training with acting coaches Kristina Sexton, Jackie Diamond, Les Chantery and Anthony Brandon Wong, as well as US Dialect coaching with Barbara Hastings. Since 2022 she has been a proud member of the Sydney Acting Studio community. Here she has continued to master skills in Meisner Technique, Screen Acting, Theatre Technique and Voice under coaches such as Luke Ford, Adam Dunn, Stephen Hunter, Grace Naoum, Donald Woodburn and the late Kevin Jackson. It was at Sydney Acting Studio, that she was given the opportunity to work under Kevin Jackson on his final production - TOVARICH, in which she played the comic role of Helene Dupont.

Named as one of The Australian Short Film Network's 'Femme Fatales of Horror', her recent screen credits include lead roles in Peacock Film Productions' THE HOME, and the online horror anthology series, AXMO DEUS. She also recently appeared in the Australian feature film LOVE YOU LIKE THAT. In addition to her work on screen Kate is an accomplished stage actress. Highlights include the lead roles of Sara McKeon in EARTH AND SKY, Rosie Price in THINGS I KNOW TO BE TRUE, and Bella Manningham in GASLIGHT. In recent years, she has developed a love for immersive theatre, playing lead roles in several shows with Dark Stories Interactive Theatre, including THE HAUNTING, CONFESSIONS OF A SERIAL KILLER and MURDER AT THE SPEAKEASY. 

Outside of acting, Kate is also an award-winning writer. In 2022, her short play TO THOSE I LEFT BEHIND, based on her experience of leaving the teaching profession was awarded the Judge's Choice of 'Best Play' in Short+Sweet Sydney. In the same year she placed Second in her category in the NYC Midnight Short Screenplay competition for her script, BROKEN. This script went on to receive nominations and win awards in several local and international film and screenwriting festivals. In 2023, she was also invited by Dark Stories, to write her own original immersive theatre show, THE SECRETS OF CARMICHAEL MANOR which toured across Sydney and Maitland to positive audience acclaim.
