JIRELLE

Actor - Writer - Teaching Artist

Welcome to my little corner of the internet.

I don’t know what it is that brought you here, but I’m glad you stopped by. In case you missed it, my name is Kate Jirelle and I am an actor, writer, teaching artist and sometimes director and producer, based in Western Sydney.

In a past life, I tried to escape the call of the creative life by working in very sensible jobs. First came my stint as a waitress, then came my time as an orthodontic assistant, then a quick exploration into the world of digital copywriting which was the prologue to my high school teaching era. Through it all, the call of the artistic path kept knocking at my heart’s door, and eventually I decided to answer it.

My parents probably blame my raging ADHD for this foray into a life of creative chaos rather than corporate drudgery predictable and secure work. Having later discovered that the great-grandfather I had never met, was in fact a professional opera singer in pre-war Germany, I like to think that my step into this life was inevitable. (thanks for the DNA, Leonid!).

If you want to find out more about my regular creative attempts in forever squashing my parent’s hopes that I’ll use that high Year 12 ATAR score to find a “normal” job, you can read My Story (it’s written in third person so you know it’s legit!).

Prefer to get straight into the work? Take a look at some of my recent Acting Work and Writing Work.

Don’t trust what I have to say about myself? I guess, that’s fair.

Take a look at the Reviews page to see what very kind strangers that have encountered me in the creative wild have to say.
